Donna Mahony passes the torch.
Domain name aftermarket DomainAgents has acquired domain name forum Domain Boardroom from Donna Mahony.
The 15-year-old forum was run differently from its competitors. It required an annual fee and an invitation from an existing member, which made it a bit more exclusive. All of its content is behind the paywall. It also requires confidentiality, which is one of the reasons why you don’t see Domain Name Wire write about what is said there.
Phil McKegney, one of the founders of DomainAgents, provided a statement to Domain Name Wire:
Donna has done an amazing job over the years bringing together a real mix of people from across the domain industry, bringing them together and forming a community. She is the heart and soul of DomainBoardroom and that won’t change.
DomainAgents is honored to pick up where Donna left off. Growing and supporting the domain name community is something we believe in and are happy to do.
Looking ahead, we discussed making certain sections of the message board public in a limited capacity, opening up new member registrations, and really seeing how we can add value to the community.
We are open to ideas.
After the acquisition, Domain Boardroom reduced its annual fee to $50 and made it optional through 2024. Any fees paid while optional will be given to Donna to help with her medical condition. Donna battles chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), a form of pulmonary arterial hypertension, which claimed the life of investor Charlotte Gilbert.
